It can be just as painful to lose someone with whom we had a complicated relationship in life: maybe a romantic partner, an estranged relative, or a lost friend. Every grief story is different, which is why every grief journey is different.

We understand the importance of grieving well, of finding a safe and healthy way to work through all the complicated emotions around death and loss. To that end, we offer a seven-week program designed around the Biblical story of the Days of Creation, using evidence-based research and other professional literature. We believe that this creation narrative (not to be taken literally!) provides useful symbolism for the way that we create and re-create our lives after we lose someone we care deeply about. The seven-session program guides us toward a healthy grieving process. Participants have opportunities to learn from one another as they speak, listen, cry, and laugh together.

The program is free and open to everyone in the community. We do approach grief from a Christian lens but do not expect that participants are firm in their beliefs. We understand that experiences like grief can open a lot of difficult questions about God and God’s role in our lives; we do our best to leave space for all the feelings and questions that can bubble up.

To learn more about the grief support ministry, please contact Rev.
