Geneva is thankful for this information provided by Canton Connections: Know Your Org: Food Assistance Programs, which outlines where, when, and how food assistance is available in our area. For those who are able to help these organizations, donations and funds are welcomed.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Where to Find Assistance<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you need help getting enough food for yourself and your family, or if you know someone who does, here are some of the organizations that can help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"mailto:office@genevachurch.org\" data-type=\"mailto\" data-id=\"mailto:office@genevachurch.org\">Geneva Church<\/a> <\/strong>&#8211; along with connecting people to local programs, Geneva also offers grocery and gas cards to neighbors in need\u2014practical support paired with a message of care and hope. Please contact the church office for more information. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/plymouthunitedway.org\/resources\/the-emergency-food-assistance-program\/\">The Emergency Food Assistance Program<\/a>&nbsp;(TEFAP)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of the United Way, they are located at 525 Farmer St, Plymouth, MI 48179.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a food program that\u2019s designed for emergency use. So, the supply isn\u2019t enough to last the entire month, but it does supplement,\u201d says Karen. \u201dIt\u2019s&nbsp; a federal food program, so the requirements are pretty much based on income and if you\u2019re a Michigan resident.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>TEFAP can be used in addition to other assistance programs, but you have to pre-register to participate. For more information and to register contact Karen Schafer at 734-453-6879, extension 3 or email her at&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:karen.schafer@pcuw.org\">karen.schafer@pcuw.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/stmarywayne.org\/st-mary-community-outreach-center\">St. Mary\u2019s Parish in Wayne<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All area Catholic churches funnel food assistance through St. Mary\u2019s at 34646 Sims St. Wayne, MI 48184. Contact them at 734-326-2234 or email&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:outreach@stmarywayne.org\">outreach@stmarywayne.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe operate Monday through Friday, from 9:00-11:30 AM and service the cities of Wayne, Westland, Canton, Plymouth and Garden City,\u201d says Malynda. \u201cIf you live outside the Wayne school district, you just need to get a referral from a local Catholic church because they have the necessary paperwork. You don\u2019t have to be Catholic to get one.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They have non-perishable food items and, through a partnership with Forgotten Harvest, some perishable items as well. You can get food from them once a month by appointment. You just need your ID and two pieces of mail to show you live in their area of service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.opendoorfoodministry.org\/\">Open Door Ministry<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Located at 4301 S. Lilley Rd, Canton, MI 48188. Phone: 734-397-1777 extension 201.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Open Door Ministry&#8217;s time for food pickup is every Thursday from 4:30-7:30 PM. You must call and pre-register before coming in for assistance. In addition to providing a nutritious balanced diet with food for the whole family, Open Door also provides a job bank, one-on-one counseling, job skills training and referrals to care groups for additional help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/newhopechurchweb.com\/food-pantry\/\">New Hope Community Church<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Located at 44815 Cherry Hill Rd. Canton, MI 48188. Phone: 734-270-2528.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Their pantry is open to all who need food, no matter what your circumstances are. You need to call and make an appointment ahead of time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/centralusa.salvationarmy.org\/plymouth\/cure-hunger\/\">Salvation Army of Plymouth<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Located at 9451 S. Main, Plymouth, MI 48017. Phone: 734-453-5464.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Their food pantry is open Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 AM-3:30 PM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/trinityepc.org\/foodpantry\">Trinity Church Food Pantry<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Located at 10101 W. Ann Arbor Rd, Plymouth, MI 48107. Phone: 734-459-9557.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Food pickup is every third Saturday of the month for residents of Western Wayne County and Ypsilanti.
