Geneva’s Missions Team is seeking collections for the women of Joy Village in Kenya who care for the orphans, including providing home-cooked meals; but the women only have broken kitchen tools with which to work. The Mission Team’s idea is to purchase basic kitchen tool sets for these ladies.

The set includes:

  • an 8″ chef’s knife
  • 5 paring knives
  • a box grater
  • a firm grip grater
  • a diamond steel knife sharpener

The goal for fundraising to gift each of these women with an extra-special “Mothers” Day is $800. Please mark your donations as “Joy VIllage Mother’s Day Gift.”

Lisa DeGroot sends along updates on JV Scholars who are completing their programs:

  • Salome graduates with a certificate in design (clothing/seamstress) in April.
  • July graduates include Kennedy (automotive certificate), Veronica (hospitality/culinary certificate), James (HVAC certificate), Patrick (boiler operation certificate)

Other JV Scholars are beginning their programs this year:

  • Martin (a special friend of Lisa’s) begins his program in Electrical Engineering

Our Missions Team is asking for donations to cover the cost of tuition for one JV Scholar – $2000. Donations for this endeavor will be accepted until May 21, 2024. Please mark your donations as JV Scholars.
